Description
My AAC and Me is a unique course that shares the personal stories of AAC users and their families. Each journey is different, shaped by individual experiences, challenges and triumphs. Through these real-life perspectives, this course provides valuable insight into what it means to communicate using AAC and the impact it has on independence, relationships and daily life.
This course is designed for parents, professionals and AAC users themselves who want to better understand the diverse experiences of AAC users. By exploring these stories, learners will gain a deeper appreciation for the role of AAC, the importance of communication partners and the different ways AAC evolves over time.
Course Outline
Learn from the experiences of AAC users and their families:
Andy’s Story – Adapting to AAC after acquiring a disability.
Yasmin’s Story – A lifelong AAC user and her mother, Marla, share their journey.
Fraser’s Story – Finding the right AAC setup and growing into independence.
Gavin’s Story – Using AAC as an author and public speaker.
